I'm working on a profile contribution which contains discs from five seasons, each season being four discs (save the final w/3) in an HD Keep case.

I'm trying to figure out the release date to put on disc profiles in this collection, some of which may have been previously released as a part of another season collection, but not had a disc profile created for it previously. Would you list the release date for the disc as for when it was published with "the complete first season" (if you knew it) or only "the complete series"?

And about running times: For each disc I've gone thru and added up the running times for just the episodes themselves. In addition to bonus materials for each disc (which I've not included in running time), there is also an extra bonus disc for the entire series.

Do I also exclude the minutes for that for the overall "complete series" running time? Should the complete series running time be limited to the combined minutes of all the episodes?

Thanks.

As for release date you take the earliest airdate of any episode in the set.

As for running time, I always sum up the running times of all episodes but nothing else.

DJ Doena: I guess I should have clarified ... my question had to do with "DVD Release" date, where different seasons had different DVD release dates, and now they've all been combined into one "complete series", which has a different (later) release date ...

Sounds like a repackage of previous season sets into a complete series set.

I may be wrong, but would the alternate version method be used since these sets were previously released and now combined into a new combined set? Thus the old releases would retain the original release date and this alternate versions would have the release date of the complete series.

Release date for the parent profile you are creating children for. Now that we can have alternate UPCs and Disc IDs in the database all you have to worry about is the set you are creating the children for.

Children for Complete Series = Complete Series Release Date
Children for Season Sets  = Season Set Release Date

Yes... I have already done this with other complete series sets. This way we get the correct release date, cover art, at times overviews, etc. for the children for both the complete series set as well as the individual season sets.

I'm working on Boardwalk Empire, the Complete Series, 883929450435, and it's pretty complicated ...

Boardwalk Empire: The Complete First Season
DVD Release: 8/28/2012
883929241781
Episodes 1 & 2 (BD) - D1ECF6C15991C41D - BWE_S1_D1 - Single-Sided - Double-Layered
Episodes 3 - 5 (BD) - D59F344E444FCC96 - BWE_S1_D2 - Single-Sided - Double-Layered
Episodes 6 - 8 (BD) - DB1909ADD468E4F9 - BWE_S1_D3 - Single-Sided - Double-Layered
Episodes 9 & 10 (BD) - 04B349729C05438C - BWE_S1_D4 - Single-Sided - Double-Layered
Episodes 11 & 12 (BD) - 87012C79A96F1DF6 - BWE_S1_D5 - Single-Sided - Double-Layered
(plus DVDs)

But my first season has four discs each with three episodes, and of course matching nothing here.

Boardwalk Empire: The Complete First Season

Episodes 1-2 - D1ECF6C15991C41D - BWE_S1_D1 - Single-Sided - Double-Layered

Bonus Materials - 465694BBD51D78BC - BOARDWALKEMPIRE1_GWP - Single-Sided - Single-Layered
This was BD only ... looks like the same discs above ...

Then there is ...

Same BD discs again, but no digital copy ...

Then there are the discs I have ...

C467129F405B0239 [BWE_S5_DISC1]
22F4CBDDF01715B1 [BWE_S5_DISC2]
4C461B0FFFD0A96C [BWE_S5_DISC3]
BC8C8C5A21347A5D [BWE_BONUS_DISC]

I may not have a problem at all. These discs may be unique to the "complete series" release, in which case I guess the DVD Release of the main box set is what to go with.

OK, I'm confused ... there was a contribution on November 5th ...

"Contributing: Boardwalk Empire:
The Complete Fifth Season: Disc 1 [Disc: C467-129F-405B-0239]"

To which the contributor attached the follow disc contents ...
Episodes 1-3 BWE_S5_DISC1[02C6A7509BBEAD4C] DL
Episodes 4-6 BWE_S5_DISC2[F243C418CD2D0E69] DL
Episodes 7-8 BWE_S5_DISC3[00D16D0EC418AEEF] DL

These three discs are associated with the digipak / slip cover release (883929448173), DVD Release 1/13/2015.

Disc 1 [Disc: C467-129F-405B-0239] belongs to 883929450435,  May 19, 2015, what I have.

He used the Disc 1 DiscID that I have as the alternate id and it is not contained in any of the three discs of his submission.

What?

So do I have to create an alternate ID #1 since I actually want to submit a profile for the actual disc? Or can I post a disc profile under the actual DiscID that I have?

He's used the disc id to, in effect, create a box set, it would seem.

Did he contribute the disc ID used for the season box? If so it is done against the rules and should be changed to the info of just that disc.

Addicted2DVD: Original contributor / notes said: "Initial contribution. Alternate ID for new packaging with complete series box set. Credits per disc credits."

Looks like he grabbed a different Season 5 profile and associated it with this DiscID. Don't know why.

Then it needs to be corrected to just the info on that disc only.
