| Posted: | | | | Hello,
i have like 400 discs in my collection, and i wanted to add a location for the discs. So i wanted to start over, but now i can't seem to find a way to export all the EAN barcode values, and i have to retype them all over again.
Is there a way i can do an export of only the movie title and the corresponding EAN code? ( i tried to export to xml but that has 60000 lines and a LOT of info i can't work with) |

You can enter the such location data via the personal info box (CTRL-P on a profile) and show it in your collection overview (in the collection header right-click on title, choose View columns and check the location field). In old DVDprofiler versions there was a CSV output, but nowadays it's only .xml export -- a format only a programmer will love. There are at least two tricks to work around it. Both use plugins. One is to use the export to Access database plugin. Then use Microsoft Access to further edit it down to your needs. But it requires you to have Acces or Excel (if only Excel, use the MSQRY32.exe tool to open the access file -- few people know you can do a LOT of Access database work with this tool and not using Access itself ). Second (and to my taste easier) is to load the Database Query plugin from Mark Harrison. Install it and load the data (without cast/crew info). Select "Other" (the last item on the left side), then select Field=ProfileID and Query='List by profile ID'. run it then all profiles are listed with only Title, Production year, Media type ans ProfileID (=EAN=UPC). Select the whole list (click the first profile, then goto the last and shift-click it) and copy (the lefmost small icon below the title bar). The list is now on the clipboard. Open your favourite spreadsheet program (like Excel or LibreOffice) and paste. This should provide you with the list you wanted with minimal extra fields. You may want to format the profileID column as text. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | Whenever you run the query in the Database Query plugin it does just that producing the list. So it does not display any code.
That said, I am not sure what you exactly mean by "IMDB code". Please remember IMDB is a commercial venture protecting its legal rights to the data it has assembled. It also regularly changes web page layouts, so also page ID's etc. One can link to IMDB (like in the DVDprofile menu: Online -> Other websites -> IMDB...). But I think this is dynamically generated. After all, it is a search, not a predefined, known location.
But others here may be more proficient in this respect. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | I meant every movie has an imdb id number, so i was wandering if dvd profiler stores that and can be shown in that list.
Come to think of it, where does the software actually grab all the movie info (i assumed imdb, but now i'm not sure anymore lol) |

| Posted: | | | | As I wrote before, DVDprofiler does not store any IMDB id (be that a movie, actor, actress or crew member). Nor does it grab data itself from anywhere.
The online database is built from user contributions. So, the users analyse the disk contents, the cover print and the web to assemble all data. If a movie isn't present in the online database, it is simply because nobody has contributed it yet.
To prevent legal challenges, the contribution rules prohibit sourcing any info from a single internet web source. Read: no blatant copy of IMDB data in contributions. This is apart from the fact that IMDB has been found out to contain errors -- some deliberate to detect 'blatant copies' and put lawyers to work...
Also: images of persons are not contributed via movie downloads. You either do it yourself and/or use the collections gathered by other users -- see the General Discussions: Headshot database threads. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | Quoting eommen: Quote: As I wrote before, DVDprofiler does not store any IMDB id That is not quite true. You can submit Online Profile Links, and they become part of the online database. I believe that the IMDb search from within Profiler uses the info from the IMDb profile link if available. I have noticed that when such a link is present, the IMDb search goes directly to the title in question, but if there is no link, it goes to the search page using the (original) title. That said, there is - as far as I know - no way to include that link in an export. It is definitely not part of the XML export, that much I know. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users.
